How Are You Doing?

Before you make any changes, see where you are. This will be your starting point. Think about these questions:

  • Do you get the right types of food in your diet?
  • How often do you exercise?
  • How much sleep do you get each night?
  • How do you feel?
  • When was the last time you had a health checkup? If it has been more than a year, see your doctor.

Mom tip

“Keeping a food journal made me realize I eat way more candy and sweets than I thought. What I thought was only one trip a day to the candy bowl was more like three.” –Ilyana

Start Tracking

Try writing down everything you eat plus your exercise for one week. See what patterns you notice. You may be surprised by what you eat, how much you eat, and why you eat. When you write everything down, you become more aware of the amount of calories that you are eating or the lack of exercise that you are getting. Get started today, and use a food tracking app or a paper journal—either works!
