Using coupons can help you save even more money on your grocery bill.
Clip Your Coupons
Where to find them? There are manufacturer coupons and store coupons. Common places to get them:
- Inserts from the Sunday newspaper
- Printable online coupons
- In-store coupons—look for weekly circulars and flyers at the store.
- Catalina coupons—these are the coupons that print from the register and usually have items you like to buy.
- Tear-aways—many stores have coupons by customer service area to give you more savings.
- eCoupons—join store reward programs. They often offer specials coupons you can get in an email, store app or on the store rewards card.
- If you have a smartphone, search for your favorite store’s app. You can receive coupons, make a shopping list, and look for weekly specials.
Know Store Rules
To save the most money, check your store’s website for rules on using coupons. Does your store:
- Accept competitors’ coupons?
- Match competitors’ prices?
- Limit how many items you can buy with the same coupon?
- Double coupons? If so, is there a limit on how many coupons you can double?
- Let you use a store coupon AND a manufacturer’s coupon on the same item?
Use Your Coupons Wisely
- Wait until items go on sale to get the most value for your coupon.
- Pay attention to sales cycles—many branded products go on sale every 6-8 weeks, or at certain times of the year.
